About the event

Stress isn't all bad. Short-term, acute stress motivates us to handle personal and professional challenges. But chronic use of the "fight or flight" response can lead to exhaustion and burnout. Learn the neuroscience of stress and research-based techniques to prevent and mitigate the cognitive, mental, emotional, and physical impacts of chronic stress. The presentation also examines commonly reported issues that compromise attorney well-being, including working with difficult or distressed clients. Learn how to manage your clients' stress with effective communication, clear expectations, and professional boundaries. This presentation will be led by Maggie Kapitan, who is a Clinical Coordinator for the Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program (COLAP) and Judge Victor Reyes, who is a retired Pueblo County District Court Judge. This presentation, like all Courtroom Chats, will occur in a casual “roundtable” format in which attendees are encouraged to ask questions and participate in a dialogue with the presenters
