On June 23rd we did our third round of Judicial Training through the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism at the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois to present a judicial training entitled “Vicarious Trauma and Judges: Impact & Solutions." These sessions have become a reality because of the vision of Chief Judge Timothy Evans and his concern about the well-being of his fellow judges. We have had at this point about 190 judges from the different Divisions located throughout the County. Also present were Presiding Judges Mary Cay Marubio of the First Appearance and E. Kenneth Wright Jr. of the Municipal Court who shared with their colleagues their experiences with trauma and the effects on their lives.
It is always a pleasure to present with Dr. Diana Uchiyama, JD, PsyD, CAADC of the Illinois Lawyers' Assistance Program who has had a long relationships with many of the participants and is known through the state for her work as the Executive Director of LAP. Also a huge thank you to the organizers of the event, Erika Harold, the Executive Director of Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism and Stephanie Villinski, Deputy Director at 2Civility, of the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism.
