In collaboration with the National Judicial College in Reno, I facilitated an engaging three-day training focused on the challenges posed by self-represented litigants and sovereign citizens. More than a hundred judges participated in a program that allowed them to share their experiences and understand that they are not alone in facing these complex issues. Handling individuals in court has become more challenging as litigants and participants mimic national figures who exhibit hostility and disrespect for the Rule of Law. These judges are dedicated to serving their communities by working hard to ensure fairness and justice through the pillars of procedural law: Voice, Neutrality, Respect, and Trust.
Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald and his Judicial Education staff, Dawn and Martha, were exceptionally welcoming hosts! Their supportive and friendly demeanor each day contributed to the smooth execution of the training. We look forward to strengthening this remarkable relationship and bringing more training sessions to the Islands soon.
